Discover how I combined my love for skulls and gothic macrame to create a thriving gothic macrame business. From maternity leave hobby to over 2.8K gothic and skull macrame pieces, showcasing creativity and craftsmanship in gothic macrame.
I thought it was about time I shared my story of how I combined my love for skulls with gothic macrame to create a thriving business selling over 2,800 spooky, gothic macrame-inspired pieces.
It all started back in 2019, when my second daughter was born. I was on maternity leave with a surprisingly calm and easygoing baby. With extra time on my hands and the need for additional income, I decided to pick up a creative hobby. I had always admired the intricate beauty of macrame, but I was never really drawn to the typical boho style you see everywhere.
Gothic macrame has always fascinated me, with its intricate designs and dark aesthetic.

My passion for gothic macrame grew as I experimented with different skull designs and eerie motifs.
Creating gothic macrame pieces allowed me to merge my love for craftsmanship with a spooky twist.
Since I’ve been running this blog since 2012, I thought, why not try making macrame designs with a spooky, gothic twist? Skulls, dark angels, and other haunting elements seemed like the perfect way to express my personal style while doing something creative and meaningful.
At first, it was just a fun experiment. I didn’t expect much beyond making a few unique decorations for my home. But everything changed when I made my first Dark Angel macrame ornament. I shared it on social media, and the response was overwhelming. People absolutely loved it, and many asked if I would sell them. That one post gave me the push I needed to open my own Etsy shop.

Since then, my passion for gothic macrame has grown beyond anything I could have imagined. From spooky wall hangings to gothic macrame Christmas ornaments, I’ve crafted countless designs that let people bring a touch of mystique into their spaces. My macrame pieces have found homes all around the world, and I’m so grateful for every customer who has supported my creative journey in gothic macrame.
One of the most rewarding moments was reaching over 2,800 sales on Etsy. Each piece I create holds a bit of my heart.
If you’ve followed me on social media, visited my Etsy shop, or simply appreciated my work from afar, thank you for being part of this journey. I look forward to sharing more behind-the-scenes stories, creative ideas, and inspirations right here on the blog.
